04 | The Second Big Discovery

The second big discovery came as a result of a visit, during a mathematics convention, to Mormon Genealogy Library in Salt Lake City. A person at a research desk at the library casually suggested that it sometimes helps to write some of the older german churches when seeking information on ancestors. I followed the suggestion, and using the best stock german phrases I could muster, wrote several churches in the area where Wolfgang Odoerfer might have lived, including the Lutheran church in Bergthan, Germany.

To my surprise, in a few weeks, I received a letter from Georg Odoerfer, whose relatives had been contacted by the minister at the Bergthan church, and my first contact to the Odoerfers in Germany had been made!
